In 1938 Germany occupied Sudetskay area, and later Bohemia and Moravia, having declared their German protectorate. In 1945 Czechoslovakia has been restored in former borders (except for east area of Ruthenium attached to Soviet Union). In 1990 country has been renamed into the Czech and Slovak Federal Republic, however already then tendencies to separation of the country have amplified and on January, 1st, 1993 Czechia and Slovakia became the independent states.
